Dear Mr. Keppler:
This letter serves as an update to our final report dated May 31, 1983. Our final report stated the plan of action for installation of the support hardware (monitoring system) in the Unit I suppression pool is targeted for the f all of 1983. However, installation of subject hardware is expected to be complete by March 2, 1984.
The twelve electrodes which measure the electrochemical potential in the pools have been procured and delivered; however, some modifications have to be made in order to better secure and protect these electrodes.
It is our intent to have the full monitoring system for Unit I in place and functional by November 1, 1984.
Our May 31 report to Mr. Keppler did not discuss the Unit II monitoring program because the extent of corrosion monitoring w121 be determined from our experience with the Unit I system. When this determination is made, a full report assessing the scope of a Unit II monitoring system will be filed with your Region III office.
