Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit Nos.1 & 2; Docket Nos. 50-317 & 50 318 Completion of Activities Required by NRC Generic Letter 88-14. Instrument Air Supply System Problems Affecting Safety-kelated Systems (TAC Nos. 7189 and 71640)
Gentlemen.
NRC Generic Letter 88-14 requested that Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BG&E) review NUREG-1275, Volume 2, " Operating Experience Feedback Report - Air Systems Problems," and perform a design and operations verification of the Calvert Cliffs Instrument Air System. Three actions were requested, including: (1) a verification of the adequacy of instrument air quality; (2) an upgrade of maintenance ' practices, emergency procedures, and - training associated with the instrument air system with regard to the function of safety related components; and (3) verification by review and testing that the design of the entire instrument air system, including the accumulators, will accommodate all design basis events, including a loss of the normal instrument air system.
All actions with the exceptice of the full system testing of Item (3), above, were previously reported complete (see BG&E submittals in Lirt of References). The purpose of this letter is to inform you that this testing was completed as follows:
