CONTAINMEfiT ISOLATION ON HIGH RADIATION
Dear Mr. Vassallo:
By letter dated October 17, 1983, you requested Carolina Power &
Light Company (CP&L) to review NUREG-0737 Item II.E.4.2.(7), Containment Isolation on High Radiation, relative to our Brunswick Steam Electric Plant.
Specifically, you requested that CP&L provide you either additional justification for not installing a high radiation signal on purge valves or our schedule for completing this action.
Carolina Power & Light Company commits to modifying Brunswick-1 and Brunswick-2 to provide drywell vent and purge valve isolations on primary containment high radiation signals in accordance with NUREG-0737 Item II.E.4.2.(7).
These modifications will be scheduled in the five-year plan now under development. Carolina Power & Light Company will schedule the work as early as possible in this long-range plan and provide an update on implementation when the project has been scoped out and the plan fully developed.
