Ouest$ons on 6!4F In its order (served Dec 2 dated Nov 30) ruling on sunnary disposition of Eddleman contention 6hF (spent fuel cask safety) at p.9 the Board asks two questions re what would happen if Applicants CP&L et al seek to amend their cask license later to ship " wet" (water-cooled shinments of spent fuel) and/or use cressure relief valves of the tyne at issue in contention 6hF:

Will (intervenor) Eddleman be entitled to notice and an opportunity for hearing on the proposed amendment in a cask licensing proceeding?
Answer:
I don't know the fine points of law on this, but it seems to ne in simple fairness that I should be.
I was entitled to notice and opportunity for a hearing on the cask's safety in this proceeding, and timely put forth contention 6hP, addressing the safety ggg of wet shipments of spent fuel using a nressure relief valve which can gga-stick open and has components which are et risk of failure in fives.
EO Applicants now commit to remove the valve and not shin wet, so the o
timely contention has been dismissed.
If they later reverse their commitments, that effectively restores the subject of contention 6hP.
