. Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 Wis letter provides the Southern California Edison (SCE) response
.for San Onofre Units 2 and 3 to IE Bulletin 83-06:
' Nonconforming Materials Supplied by Tube-Line Corporation Facilities at Long Island City, New York; Houston, 'Itxas;- and Carol. Stream, Illinois." Action Items 1 and 4 of this IE Bulletin 83-06 require that the lists of purchasing.and receiving corpanies given in Attachments to this bulletin be reviewed, a determination be made if any Tube-Line supplied ASME Code Section III materials have been furnished to San Onofre Units 2 and 3, and a written report be submitted to the Regional Administrator within 120 days of the date of this bulletin which was issued on
' July 22, 1983.
SCE and our principal contractors, Conbustion Engineering (CE) and
.Bechtel corporation (Bechtel) have conducted extensive corporate and jobsite investigations including review of approved vendor lists and review of purd asing records and have found no evidence to indicate that any ASME Code Section III mrSterial from Tube-Line Corporation is in use at San Onofre Units 2 and.3. No ASME Code Section III material has'been purchased for San Onofre Units 2 and 3 directly from Tube-Line Corporation by SCE, CE or Bechtel.
In addition, significant efforts have been made to determine if any ASME Code Section III material from Tube-Line Corporation has been shipped to San Onofre Units 2 and 3 through sub-tier vendors. For exanple, Bechtel, using a generic approach for all their nuclear projects, has questioned a total of 407 sub-tier vendors whose products may contain material similar in product form to those in this bulletin.- As of Novenber 1, 1983, 257 vendors have responded and it has been determined that no ASME Code Section III material has been shipped to San Onofre Units 2 and 3 from Tube-Line. %e original letters to the suppliers requested replies within 30 days from receipt, and follow-up M Oh{

If any of the subject material is identified to be at San Onofre Units 2 and 3 from this ongoing survey, then SCE would notify Region V and take the follow-up actions as specified in thiu Bulletin 83-06. 2 date it has been determined that the reference to San Onofre in Table 2 of this IE Bulletin 83-06 is not applicable to San Onofre Units 2 and 3 and Region V will be notified when the ongoing investigations are cor:plete.
