Dear Mr. Gagliardo:
This letter provides an interim report on a potential 10CFR50.55(e) concerning cracked card edge connector receptacles in the Westinghouse 7300 Process System at Wolf Creek Generating Station. This matter was initially reported by Messrs. Maynard and Creel of Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KG&E) to Mr. William Johnson of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Region IV) on October 25, 1983.
During Field Change Notice (FCN) Modifications to the Westinghouse 7300 Process System, I&C Technicians found cracked card edge connector're-ceptacles. A one hundred percent inspection of the Westinghouse 7300 Process Sfstem receptacles indicated that approximately fifteen percent of these receptacles exhibited cracking. Westinghouse has been requested to evaluate this matter.
In order to facilitate this evaluation, samples of cracked receptacles have been shipped to Westinghouse.
The status of the evaluation and resolution of this matter will be reported to you on or before February 10, 1984.
