INTERIM REPORT - DER 83-66 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY (APS)
PVNGS UNIT - 1 I.
Potential Problem Af ter hot functional testing of the electric motor driven Auxiliary Feedwater Pump, inspection of the pump tagged (IMAFBP01) revealed the following deficiencies:
The impeller wear ring on the first stage impeller had fractured into several pieces which were found lodged in other portions of the pump.
The first stage impeller had a groove approximately 3/8" wide by 1/4" deep on the outside diameter of the hub.
Various nicks, scars and burrs were found throughout the pump internals, apparently caused by f racturing of first stage wear ring.
The shaft sleeve between the third and fourth stages is grooved longitudinally.
The Auxiliary Feedwater Pump was supplied by Bingham-Willemette under purchase order 13-MM-021.
II:
Approach To and Status of Proposed Resolution Bechtel engineering has requested the services of a Bingham-Willamette field representative to inspect the damaged pump. A copy of DER 83-66 was sent to Bingham-Willamette to provide reportability disposition and technical justification for corrective action.
III.
Projected Completion of Corrective Action and Submittal of the Final Report Evaluation of this candition and submittal of the Final Report is f orecast to be completed by January 20, 1984.
