Letter, G03-83-583, Docket 50-508, D. E. Dobson to D. M. Sternberg, same subject, dated July 22, 1983.
The referenced letter provided your office with an interim report concern-ing the subject deficiency. The " Description of Deficiency" portion of the report noted that the coped beams were supplied by Chicago Bridge and Iron (CB&I) under Contract 3240-113. Subsequent investigation by CB&I has disclosed that similiar beam cope deficiencies may have occurred in Jet Impingement Barrier materials supplied under Contract 3240-114. CB&I considers the Jet Impingement Barrier material suspect because it was fabricated and welded in the same area and time period as the Contract 3240-113 floor framing material.
The Jet Impingement Barrier material problem has been documented on a Nonconformance Report and will be dispositioned in the same manner as the Contract 113 material. Accordingly, the final Supply System report for the subject deficiency will address both Contract 113 and 114. As noted in the referenced letter, the final report will be provided to your office by February.15, 1984.
