TV Electric letter logged TXX-89820 from W. J. Cahill, Jr. to NRC dated November 27, 1989 Gentlemen:
On October 27, 1989 TU Electric notified the NRC of a deficiency involving Auxiliary Feedwater (AFW) pump turbine low lube oil pressure switch electrical separation. On November 27, 1989, in the final 50.55(e) report submitted for Unit 1, TV Electric stated that the Unit 2 corrective action for this deficiency woul'1 be assessed af ter resumption of the balance of engineering activities for Unit 2.
As in Unit 1, the Unit 2 AFW pump turbine low lube oil pressure switch is part of the seismically qualified AFW Pomp Turbine skid, and is provided with single fuse isolation from the skid IE power supply.
The Unit 2 switch, as the Unit I switch, was determined to not meet the CPSES electrical separation design criteria. The corrective action assessed for Unit 2 is similar to that implemented for Unit 1 and is as follows:
The design has been modified to provide two fuses in series in the AFW pump turbine low lube oil pressure switch power supply circuit.
