ION OF ASME SECTION XI INTERVAL EP";NSION AND INSPECTION / TEST SCHEDULE During the period September 9,1988 through September 19,1989, Unit 2 was shuttiown for an extended maintenance and modification outage. ASME Section XI "30 Edition, Winter 1980 Addendum, Subparagraph IWA-2400 (c), states:For power units that are out of service continually for 6 months or more, the inspection interval during which the outage occurred may be extended for a period equivalent to the outage." Therefore, pursuant to ASME Section XI, the Second inservice Inspection Interval for Surry Unit 2 is being extended to account for the 374 day extended maintenance and modification outage. Accordmgly, the Second Interval will end May 10,1994 and the Third Interval will end on May-10,2004.
Based upon this extension, the Second Interval 10 year inservice inspections have been scheduled for completion during the Spring 1993 and Fall 1994 refueling outages. The final Type A test of the Second Interval has been scheduled to be performed in conjunction with the inservice inspections during the Fall 1994 outage.
Both inservice inspections and the final Type A test will be completed within the grace period provided for in ASME Section XI, paragraph IWA 2400 (c).
