FOR I and 50-446 AN OPERATING LICENSE FOR I COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC I STATION UNITS #1 AND #2 (CPSES) g CASE'S RESPONSE TO NRC STAFF'S AFFIDAVITS ON OPEN ITEMS RELATING TO WALSH/D0YLE ALLEGATIONS Pursuant to the Board's directives, the NRC Staff filed on October 14, 1983, the affidavits of Messrs. Chen and Tapia on the Open Items relating to Walsh/Doyle concerns. As indicated at the October 1983 hearings, CASE did not receive these documents until 4 P.M., October 15,1983 (the Saturday before the hearings began on Monday); we also received for the first time the calculations of Dr. J. R.- N. Rajan (for support No. CC-1-028-039-S33R) and the SIT checklist ut'ilized in its independent design verification of 100 pipe supports (pp. 54-58 of the SIT Report) at that time. The Board indicated that should we deem a reply necessary, it should be made as soon as possible following the hearings; this we have done.

In response to the Staff witnesses' affidavits, we are attaching copies of Affidavits by CASE witnesses Mark Walsh and Jack Doyle.
