Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant NPDES Permit No. MI 0005827
Dear Mr. Marks:
On October 15, 1983, with nuclear Unit #1 down for refueling, Unit #2 tripped from service due to a steam generator tube leak.
To provide steam, the heating boiler, which had been last used August 25, 1983, was started. A blowdown sample taken at 0145 hours0.00168 days
0.0403 hours
2.397487e-4 weeks
5.51725e-5 months
, October 16, 1983, was analyzed and found to contain 4.85 PPM iron.
An NPDES modification which exempts the plant heating boiler from Iron and Copper limits was approved at the meeting of the Michigan Water Resources Commission on March 21, 1979, although the staff has never formally modified the permit to reflect this administrative action.
Very truly yours, R. C. Me e
