Structural Steel Welds
Dear Mr. Gagliardo:
On March 23, 1983, Kansas Gas and Electric Company reported a potential 10CFR50.55(e) matter concerning structural steel welds.
Additional information was subsequently submitted in References
- 1) and 2).
The Architect / Engineer (A/E) reviewed the nonconforming welds and has determined that the identified conditions would not have impaired the design function of the welded connections affected. Therefore, the weld deficiencies reported would not have presented a safety concern had they remained uncorrected. Based upon the A/E's evaluation, KG&E has concluded that this matter is not reportable pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e).
