Mr. A. Schwencer, Chief Docket Nos. 50-352 Licensing Branch No. 2 50-353 Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC '0555

Subject:

Limerick Generating Station Units 1 and 2 Request for Additional Information from NRC Environmental Qualification Branch (EQB)

Ref:

Telecon, A. Masciantonio, NRC/EQB and W. J. Soyer, PECO, 2/6/84 File:

GOVT l-1 (NRC)

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

In the ' reference telecon, additional information was requested by EQB in an effort to enhance its review of the Limerick Equipment Qualification Report (EQR).

In response to that request, the following information is provided:

1. 1s a draft of the EQR, Appendix B list of Equipment Important to Safety which has been modified to add an indication of equipment qualification status and a cross reference to each corresponding environmental qualification package.
2. is a draft of the EQR, Appendix E Equipment Qualification Review Records (EQRR) which has been revised to correct typographical errors and to provide additional EQRR forms for equipment not included in the October, 1983 submittal.

These EQR Appendix B and E drafts will be incorporated into the EQR as they appear in the attachments in the revision scheduled for April, 1984.

In addition to the above draft EQR changes, the following information is provided in response to the reference telecon:

f-3 Mr. A. Schwencer, Chief 3. is a printout' of a computerized data based comparison of the EQR Appendix B list of Equipment Important to Safety versus the Appendix E EQRR forms.

The left side of each page of this printout shows EQRR. forms which

- are contained in Appendix E but are not uniquely listed in Apper. dix B.

. This anomaly exists because equipment such-as terminal blocks, cables,

- switchboard wire and splice insulaticn (generally referred to as Class IE Power Interface Items) is used in many systems and hence is not assigned

- system-unique identification numbers as are the items listed in Appendix B.

These items are qualified for the environments in which they must operate as demonstrated by Class IE Power Interface EQRR's contained in Appendix E.

1 The right half of each page of this printout shows the Appendix B equipment items rhich do not at this time have a corresponding EQRR in Appendix E because review of qualification data has not been completed.

EQR Appendix E will be revised. periodically to ' provide such EQRRs as i

- qualification is completed.

A draft revised reactor enclosure temperature profile is submitted herein as' Attachment 1.

This draft will be incorporated into the EQR exactly as it appears in Attachment 1 as part of the revision scheduled for April, 1984.

The revised profile reflects a faster rise to the maximum temperature, however, the value of the maximum temperature, 120*F, ' is not changed.

This profile revision will not affect the information contained on any EQRR ' forms due to the conservative review l

. philosophy that was used in their preparation.

Sincerely,
