Summary of Operating Experience l Docket No. 50-247 Completed by: M. Blatt Telephone No.: 914/526-5127 l
Indian Point Unit No. 2 operated at 100% power until August 2 when power was reduced to 30% to permit inspection of a supected leak on No. 22 Steam Generator manvay gasket. This inspection revealed a slight gasket leak at the cold leg prJmary mnway which was well within the permitted Technical Specification leak rate. The Unit was returned to full power.
Power was maintained at 100% until August 6 when the Unit tripped while undergoing a containnent pressure analog channel test. A faulty capacitor in a bistable associated with one of the containment pressure channels was replaced and tested and the Unit returned to full power.
On August 21, members of the Utility Workers Union of A:rerica, Local 1-2, returned to work following a strike which began on June 18, 1983. During the strike period, qualified managc ant personnel manned requi red plant positions without incident.
On August 27, the Control Oil System for No. 21 Main Boiler Feed Pump (MBPP) malfunctioned causing a pump trip and a resultant reduction in feedwater flow. As load was being reduced to compensate for the reduction in feedwater, the Unit tripped on low low level in No. 23 Steam Generator. Following repairs to the MBFP Control Oil System and a modification / repair of the Nos. 21 and 23 Chemical Feed lines to '
feedwater lines Nos. 21 and 23, the Unit was returned to service on August 29 and operated at full power for the remainder of the report period.
During the nonth load was reduced on several occasions by approxjmately 160 MWe when circulators were removed from service to permit inspection and repair of condenser tubes.
