Dear Mr. Vassallo:
By letter dated November 20, 1982, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) submitted to the NRC the Brunswick Plant Unique Analysis Report (PUAR) for the Mark I containment program. Your letter of April 14, 1983 requested CP&L to provide additional information concerning the structural aspects of Brunswick PUAR. Subsequently, by letter dated June 3, 1983, you

requested CP&L to provide additional information concerning the loads evaluation aspect of the Brunswick PUAR.
At a meeting held on August 11, 1983, CP&L and our consultant, United Engineers & Constructors, reviewed preliminary responses to both your April 14,1983 and June 3, 1983 requests with members of the Staff a'd your n
l consultants, Franklin Research Center (FRC) and Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). Based on those discussions, CP&L has completed preparation and review of all the necessary responses. The CP&L responses to the April 14, 1983 request (the FRC questions) are provided in Enclosure 1.
