Revised Response to RAI 640.55 (Procedure and Test Review Branch)
Dear Sir:
We have enclosed a revised response to the subject Request for Additional Information (640.55).
The original response to RAI 640.55, which is currently included in FSAR Volume 15, commits to a loss of turbine generator and off-site power test when L
returning to power (10% to 20% power range) following the unit trip from 100%
power.
The enclosed revised response to RAI 640.55 maintains the commitment that the test will be conducted when the generator output range is between 10% and 20%; however, it retracts the commitment to conduct the test during the return to power following the unit trip from 100% power. This pceition is consistent with Regulatory Guide 1.68, Revision 2.
The enclosed revised response will be included in a future amendment to the OL Application.
Very truly yours, YANKEE AIOM C ELECTRIC COMPANY

.Our response to RAI 640.55 stated that the loss of turbine-generator and offsite power test (Regulatory Guide 1.68 Rev. 2 (item 5.j.j)) would be conducting when returning to power (10-20%
power' range) following the unit trip from 100% power.
I It is not regiured that this test be performed subsequent to the unit trip-from.100% power. To provide more scheduling flexability please amend the RAI response to delete this require-ment as shown in the attached.

640.55.
The' loss of turbine-generator and offsite power test should be initiated from a sufficient power level and should;be maintained for a period of time sufficient to demonstrate that the necessary equipment, controls, and 4
instrumentation are available following station blackout to remove decay heat from the core using only emergency t
power supplies.
It is our position that you initiate this test from at leas,t 1004 generator output and main-tain~the loss of offsite power for at least.30 minutes in order-to demonstrate this.
~RBSPONSE:
Regulatory Guide 1.68 Rev. 2 (item 5.J.J.) shows the approximate range for the loss of turbine-generator coincident with loss of offsito power to be 10 to i.
20%.
