On January 3,1984 the applicants filed their opposition to the motion of the Palmetto Alliance (Palmetto) for discovery on the newly-admitted issues in the Catawba nuclear station operating-license hearing.
On January 5,1984, the NRC staff followed suit with a similar response Palmetto Alliance hereby moves for leave opposing discovery by Paltaetto.

The briefs of the applicants and staff seriously mischaracterize the factual circumstances from which Palmetto's original motion for directed In particular, they misrepresent the diligence of certification arose.
