Dear Mr. Keppler:
On December 8,1981, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). PSI Quality Assurance personnel discovered that existing procedures did not require specification /
design changes made via engineering change notices, specification amendments, or drawing revisions to be contractually imposed on suppliers o: contractors. This created the potential for speci-fication/ design changes to be left unincorporated in the as-built configuration of safety related equipment or structures.
Procedural changes have been made which require that specification /
design changes be contractually imposed on suppliers and contractors.
PSI has implemented a special process procedure to verify that manu-factured items and materials meet the most current requirements of the specifications.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e). A further report will be filed on or before September 30, 1983.
