Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
This letter is a Special Report submitted as required by McGuire Nuclear Station Technical Specification 3.7.8.
Duke Power Company has a design change planned which modifies the total number of mechanical snubbers identified in the Technical Specifications.
A description of the planned change follows.
Modification No. MG-1108 (Unit 1)
This modification adds one mechanical snubber and deletes one hydraulic snubber in the Steam Generator Blowdown (BB) System. A reanalysis of the affected piping showed that the stresses are within acceptable values with the above changes.
A revision to Technical Specification 3.7.8 to reflect the above modification will be submitted with the next license amendment request.
