Dear Chairman Palladino:
A group of citizens from San Luis Obispo, California have brought to my attention a number of concerns they have regarding the safety of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant.
After reviewing many-of the facts regarding this case, I, too, have some, serious Concerns.
As a legislator long interested in health and safety issues, I believe that all credible allegations concerning the potential for safety problems at a nuclear plant must be investigated and given a fair public hearing before moving ahead.
I would hope that you and the other members of the Commission will proceed on Diablo Canyon recognizing the concerns of the local citizens.
Operation of a nuclear plant should never, it seems to me, be approved until an exhaustive review of all safety concerns has been completed.
We both know that there is no shortage of concerns with Diablo Canyon.
