DOCKET No: 50-369 UNIT: McGuire 1 DATE: 01/13/84 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

Month:

December, 1983 McGuire Unit'l entered the month reduced to 50% power to complete repairs to the "B" feedwater pump controls. Repairs were completed and power increased within a couple of hours. At about 8:00 AM on the 1st., a clogged air supply filter on the "B" feedwater pump turbine cooling water isolation valve caused the pump to trip.. The unit tripped during the attempted runback on steam generator level. The unit was ret.cned to service later the same day.

.ecember 9th. the-unit ranback to 50% power when the breaker supplying power to

.the "B" feedwater pump turbine speed control tripped due to a ground on another component.

December 21st. the unit was shutdown to repair both of the reactor coolant drain tank pumps. Repairs were completed and the unit was back online in just over one day.

December 27th.~the turbine tripped when water leaked into the DEH cabinet and shorted some control cards. The unit was returned to service early the next norning.

Output throughout the month was limited to a maximum of 95% due to ti.e stuck governor valve being isolated. Output was further reduced to 50% each night for a one week long test of the unit's load following abilities.
