This proposed schedule is justified in that Duke Power Company has taken great strides in all areas of emergency planning to upgrade j
its capabilities for emergency response l
(training drills, exercises, communications, i
facilities, organization). Compensatory I
measures are in place to use the National Weather Service for backup meterological data should the primary towers be unavetlable.
The proposed schedule includes cot.aideration

for equipment purchase, installation, and testing. To advance this schedule to meet an I

be possible due to lead times for the above items. Work is in progress at McGuire to i
implement this upgrade. These are proposed dates and do not assume unforseen delays in receipt of equipment, problems with installa-tion, or failure at testing. Since the pro-posed schedule is longer than the date speci-fled in the McGuire Operating License, a i
license amendment request will be submitted in the near future.
