57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, S-17 This letter constitutes a final report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Commission on October 20, 1983 as a potentially reportable deficiency under 10CFR50.55(e).
CG&E has since determined this condition not to be reportable.
This potential deficiency was initially reported to the NRC after being notified by Sargent & Lundy (S&L) of a potential deficiency in the design of the Main Steam tunnel and Auxilary Building (AB) masonry walls.
This concern was based on preliminary results of High Energy Line Break (HELB) Analysis being performed by (S&L) to determine local temperature and pressure profiles for the equipment qualification program.
Our last report, LOZ-83-0214, was submitted on November 8, 1983.
It stated that refinements to the analysis showed that the pressure differential in the AB resulting from HELB would not be unacceptable for masonry walls and would not jeopardize any safety-related equipment.
We indicated we would review the report and make a final report on this condition.
CG&E concurs with this conclusion based on our review of the S&L analysis and considers this condition not to be reportable under 10CFR50.55(e).
