Subject:

Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 Schedule for ACRS Sub-Committee and Full Committee Meetings NRC Docket Nos. 50-456/457

Dear Mr. Denton:

The current Bevill schedule date published in NUREG-0580 indicates that the ACRS Full Committee Meeting for our Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 is scheduled for February, 1984.

The purpose of this letter is to formally request a delay in this matter to March 15, 1984 for the ACRS Full-Committee meeting.

Additionally, we request that the requisite ACRS Sub-Committee meeting be held on March 8 and 9, 1984.

It is our understanding that these ACRS meetings are not critical path in the licensing process and that a one month postponement can be accommodated without altering the ASLB hearing schedule.

Additionally, our discussions with Mr. E. G.

Igne indicate that these dates are acceptable to the ACRS.

This delay would be beneficial to Commonwealth Edison in that it will allow for closure of additional Byron and Braidwood outstanding items prior to the ACRS meetings, and will allow for scheduling of our senior management's attendance at these meetings.

Based upon the above, we request that the NRC Staff allow for such a delay in the ACRS meeting dates.

We must emphasize that the Commonwealth Edison Company fully intends to support the licensing process in pursuit of the Braidwood Unit 1 operating license to accommodate an April 1985 fuel load.

Your immediate attention to this matter is requested.

Please address any questions concerning this matter to this office.

One (1) signed original and fifteen (15) copies of this letter are provided for your use.

Very truly yourc, E.
