Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 Dockets Nos. 50-413 and 50414 Generic letter 89-10, " Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valve Testing and Surveillance" Schedule D. L. Rehn's letter to your staff, dated October 20,1994, stated that the status of design basis
. verifications for the remaining Generic Ietter 89-10, Group 1 valves would be provided, via telecom, to the appropriate Region II staff by December 2,1994. This was accomplished on December 1,1994 via telecom discussion with C. A. Casto and R. A. Carroll of Region II and T. L. Edwards, J. H. Henkel of Catawba Mechinical / Civil Engineering and J. L. Lowery of Catawba Regulatory Compliance. The purpose of this letter is to document the context of that discussion.
As discussed, we will complete the design basis verifications for the remaining Catawba Group 1 valves by December 28,1994, as previously committed. As indicated by D. L. Rehn's letter, dated October 20,1994, we plan to accelerate the schedule for the Catawba Group 2 valves by the end of refueling outage 2EOC8 (currently scheduled to end May 5,1997).
Upon completion of the design basis verification of the Generic letter 89-10, Group 1 valves, we plan to submit a request for closure, pursuant to the requirements of Generic Letter 89-10.
