Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-413 and 50-414 Deferral of Submittal of Second Ten-Year Interval Inservice Testing (IST)

Gentlemen:
The purpose of this letter is to document Catawba's intention to extend its IST program second ten-year interval submittal date.
10CFR50.55a establishes the requirements for inservice testing at pressurized water-cooled nuclear facilities. Each facility must comply with the~se requirements in order to test certain ASME Code Class 1,2, and 3 pumps and valves.
Catawba Units I and 2 IST programs will be upgraded in compliance with the 1989 ASME Code and submitted together prior to December 29,1995. This extends the submittal date for the second ten-year interval by one year. This allowable extension is discussed in Article IWA-2430, Paragraph (d) of the 1989 ASME Section XI Code.
