Proposed Technical Specification (TS) Amendment Supplement Renewal of Steam Generator Tube Interim Plugging Criteria for Unit 1 Cycle 9 l
Reference:
Letter from D.L. Rehn to NRC, same subject, dated November 29,1994 1
L Gentlemen:
Pursuant to a telephone conference call between Duke Power Company and NRC l
representatives on January 19,1995, please find attached proposed TS revisions which i
supplement our oiig'nal reference submittal.
l The purpose of this proposed amendment supplement is to: 1) modify Surveillance Requirement (SR) 4.4.5.2e. concerning rotating pancake coil (RPC) inspection requirements and 2) modify SR 4.4.5.4a.13)l. concerning a reference to a non-current methodology.
Picase refer to the attachment for the marked-up TS pages, modified as per agreement in the above conference call. The deletion of the statement concerning RPC inspection requirements from SR 4.4.5.2e. isjustified on the basis that Catawba performs an RPC inspection for all indications greater than one volt, regardless of whether or not the tube is plugged. The deletion of the statement concerning the basis for determining expected leak rates from SR 4.4.5.4a.13)l. isjustified on tiie basis that this statement refers to a methodology that is no longer current. The current methodology is specified in the reference; thercfbre, no additional clarification is required.
