SUBJECT:

FINAL SAFETY EVALUATION FOR WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY REQUEST TO MODIFY SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT ON WCAP-12472-P-A, BEACONTM: CORE MONITORING AND OPERATIONS SUPPORT SYSTEM (EPID L-2019-TOP-0033)

Dear Ms. Zozula:

By letter dated September 9, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML19253A107), Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) request to modify safety evaluation (SE) for the previously approved WCAP-12472-P-A, BEACONTM Core Monitoring and Operations Support System.

The enclosed final SE addresses the applicability of modified SE for the previously approved WCAP-12472-P-A, BEACONTM Core Monitoring and Operations Support System.

The NRC staff has found that the modified SE for the previously approved WCAP-12472-P-A, BEACONTM Core Monitoring and Operations Support System, is acceptable for referencing in licensing applications to the extent specified and under the limitations delineated in the topical report (TR) and the enclosed SE. Our acceptance applies only to material provided in the subject TR.

If future changes to the NRCs regulatory requirements affect the acceptability of this TR, Westinghouse will be expected to revise the TR appropriately or justify its continued applicability for subsequent referencing. Licensees referencing this TR would be expected to justify their continued applicability or evaluate their plant using the revised TR.

C. Zozula If you have any questions, please contact Ekaterina Lenning at 301-415-3151.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Dennis C. Morey, Chief Licensing Processes Branch Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket 99902038
