NOTES TO ATTACHMENT 1 1

The access dcors gaskets are not directly located in the affluent stream.

The vendor has certified that these gas-kats have a design life of more than 40 years in the operating environment expected.

These gaskets are inspected for signs of deterioration and wear every time the filters are inspected and replaced.

If any damage is observed the gasket is replaced. It should be noted that since the filter housings are maintained under negative pressure during operation, no leakage of contami-nated air to the outside is possible even in the improbable even',of a leak existing in the door gasket.

2.

The Differential Pressure Gages are monitored daily.

3.

The. initial filter replacement schedule is based on past experience and data.

The actual conditions encountered during operation of the units may affect this schedule.

4.

When the filters are replaced the gaskets and sealants are also replaced even though the life spans of the gasket and sealant materials were verified by the vendor to exceed the two year filter maximum replacement period by many years.

5.

The charcoal absorbers are all welded gasketless con-struction using 304 stainless steel.

These absorbers are welded to the casings and becone an integral part of the units.

All air cleaning components listed he::e have a Design 6.

Life of forty (40) years plus one (1) year post accident opera-tion.

l i

l i

All Radwaste Liquid Backflushable Filters have a De-7.

sign Life of forty (40) years plus one (1) year post accident operation.

8.

Information concerning the Gaseous Radwaste Filters (Volume Reduction System) is not available from the vendor.
