Dear Sir:
In the reference letter, the Power Authority provided the status of our review of a potential pipe support design non-conformance.
The purpose of this letter is to provide additional information on the status of our review, and to clarify information contained in the reference letter.
As stated in the reference letter, our consultant provided us with a list of 20 supports which he identified as poten-tially non-conforming.
The consultant claimed that the list of 20 included some supports which show evidence of physical damage. Of these 20 supports, only 18 still exist in their original configuration and location.
These 18 supports were visually inspected and 17 were found to be undamaged and acceptable in the as-found condition.
The condition of the remaining support, on the main steam line, was described in the reference letter.
The 2 sur. ports not visually inspected have been redesigned or relocated as a result of the Mark I program.
One of these original supports was removed during the 1981-82 refueling outage.

6 The other support was redone during the 1983 refueling outage before it could be inspected.
The independent third party review by United Engineers and Constructors (UE&C) is continuing.
UE&C has informed us that their review to date.has not resulted in any signif-icant findings.
Due to the extent-of the UE&C review, it will not be completed within 2 to 4 weeks as stated in the reference letter.
The Authority anticipates UE&C's final report in the near future.
We will keep you informed antil this report in submitted to you.
