Dear Mr. Denton:
McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 2, Facility Operating License NPF-17 requires that Duke Power Company provide "...the upgra ed post-trip review procedures for NRC staff review" (Paragraph 2.C.(12)d.).
By letter dated May 20, 1983 Duke notified the NRC staff that the " Reactor Trip", " Unit Fast Recovery" and
" Controlling Procedure for Unit Startup" procedures were changed to require that the evaluation conducted by the Performance Group be completed prior to restart following a reactor trip. Accordingly, a copy of each of these proce-dures is hereby submitted.
It should be noted that future changes in this area are likely as a result of requirements issued in Generic Letter 83-28 " Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events".
Any additional changes relative to post-trip review will be described in the report required by Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of the enclosure to Generic Letter 83-28.
