- 1. Safety Evaluation Report from the NRC to D M Musolf (NSP) dated 4/25/83 titled:
" Safety Evaluation (SER) for Environmental Qualification of Safety Related Electrical Equipment," with Franklin Research Center (FRC) Te:hnical Evaluation Report (TER) for Prairie Island.
- 2. Letter from D M Musolf (NSP) to the NRC datell 5/5/83 titled: " Safety Evaluation for Environmental Qualifi-cation of Safety-Related Electrical Equipment; Ten-Day Response."
The following infornation is submitted to clarify which instruments are Rosemount Series A transmitters classified as category II.B items in references (1) and (2). The NRC SER dated 4/25/83 referenced item aumbers in l
the FRC TER identifying Rosemount transmitters in category II.B.
The l
reference statement did not reflect the actual location of these transmitters.
NSP's response dated 5/5/83 to the NRC SER attempted to clarify the issue.
Some misunderstanding still exists and the following information is provided to remove any confusion:
~1
- 1. FRC item #44 are Rosemount 1153 Series A transmitters categori::ed l
as II.B.
They are the reactor coolant system wide range pressure transmitters for Unit 1.
The plant ID numbers need to be corrected to read 1-PT-709 and 1-PT-710.
- 2. The Rosemount transmitters listed in iten 47 have been deleted from the safety related equipment list in both units since they are used to detect reactor vessel head vent leakage and are not used for accident or post accident monitoring.

- 3. FRC item #40 are Rosemount 1153 Series A transmitters categorized as II.B.
They are the main steam flow transmitters in Unit 2.
- 4. The statement at the top of page four of the NRC SER dated 4/25/83 should correctly read:
'%esolution of the deficiencies associated with Equipment Item number 44 for Unit No. I and 40 for Unit No. 2 that has been assigned to NRC l
Category II.B (Equipment Not Qualified)."
l The preceeding corrections supercede the note on page two of Enclosure (1) of NSP's response dated 5/5/83.
