Welds Bergen & Paterson Sway Struts
Dear Mr. Seidle:
This letter provides an interim report on a potential 10CFR50.55(e) matter concerning welds on Bergen & Paterson sway struts. This matter was first reported by Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KG&E) on February 24, 1983, and supplemental information was provided in References 1) and 2).
The last three Bergen & Paterson sway struts in question are being inspected and the results are being documented on Nonconformance Report.s.
Upon disposition of these Nonconformance Reports, KG&E will complete its evaluation of this matter.
The status of the evaluation and resolution of this matter will be reported to you on or before October 21, 1983. In the interim, please direct any questions concerning this subjectto me or to Mr. Otto Maynard of my staff.
