Subject:
Interim 10CFR50.55(e) Report; Tornado Missile Shields for Fuel l
Storage Building l
Dear Sir:
On November 10, 1982, we reported a potential 10CFR50.55(e) deficiency l
[ Reference (b)] regarding the adequacy of Tornado Missile Shield protection on the North and West walls of the Fuel Stornge Building.
In Reference (c), we provided an interim report on this item and indicated that we would submit another report by April 1, 1983.
In Reference (d), we provided the status and efforts taken to date to resolve this concern and committed to submit a report by July 15, 1983.
As mentioned in Reference (d), probability analyses are underway to determine if any of the potential missile " windows" can be disregarded on the basis that there is an extremely low probability that a missile could enter and damage a safety-related system or component. These analyses are continuing and are now scheduled to be complete by November 30, 1983, at which time a report on this subject will be issued.
