Dear Mr. Selin:
This correspondence is in regard to the State of California Public Utilities Commission's whose President is Mr.
Daniel Fessler,505 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA N102 review / request to close early the SONGS Nuclear Generating Facility at San Onofre primarily owned and operated by Southern California Edison. The SONGS facility must be closed sooner if possible... The reason is that originally Southern California Edison had a plan to evacuate the City residents of San Clemente in the event of an emergency and now there is no plan! Southern California Edison Informs all San Clemente Cittrens to sit home and "nlow in the dark or frv!"
The primary excuse giten is that originally the City of San Clemente had two exit routes out of the area. One was lbctGc Cast liighway and the second was Interstate 5 (The San Diego Freeway - North past San Juan Capistrano).
I last win cr a v ery large landslide permanently ckmed Pacific Coast lii hway at the Dana Point' San Clemente F
lurder. Because the escape route has been narrowsd now to just one - Interstate 5, Southern California Edison now requests that in the event of a nuclear emergency that all San Clemente residents are to stay home! The potential for a catastrophic loss of life on the order of Chernobyl or worse is now in place.. Even Three Mile Island was scarry enough. Most all San Clemente residents includmF the rest of my family tree, live under an invisible cloud of nuclear terroristic# fear under the new i
chanFe in plans pohey.
San Clemente real estate is among the most expensis e in California and the 250 million maximum liability cymure Southern Cahfornia Edison is F ren by law would replace only a few homes in San Clemente. Because i
of the insensitivity of Southern California Edison's new revised evacuation plan, which is none at all, please help convince the State of California Public Utilities Commission to close the SONGS facility at the earliest possible moment to save countless lives and the potential for mass human misery on a scale that is almost incomprehensible.
Ttumk }ou for your time, consideration and action in helping to close the entire SONGS facility. SONGS is a financial '111ack llole' and a disaster waiting to happen. Approximately 100,000 Californian's lite next to harm's wa).. You and your agency also have the power to shut-down the operation based upon gross negligence in the lack of an escape plan. PLEASE DO SO !
Sincerely,1
-/
