Dear Mr. Seidle:
This letter provides an interim report on a potential 10CFR50.55(e) item concerning miscellaneous component failures in the safety-related battery chargers at Wolf Creek Generating Station. This concern was initially reported by Kansas Gas and Electric Company on March 9, 1983, and additional information was provided in the Reference.
Power Conversion Products Incorporated are currently testing the battery chargers in question and making required corrections. Upon completion of the testing the Architect / Engineer will complete an evaluation of this matter and disposition the Startup Field Report which documented the original concern.
The status of the evaluation and resolution of this matter will be reported to you on or before October 3, 1983.
In the interim, please direct any questions concerning this subject to me or to Mr. Otto Maynard of my staff.
