Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-13 File 0260/L-835.0 Special Report 83-041/0 -
Smoke Detectors Covered During Welding Activities AECM-83/0332 On April 24, 1983, smoke detectors in the upper and lower cable spreading rooms of the Control Building were covered and deactivated to prevent inadvertent actuation from welding activities. Action (b) of Technical Specification 3.3.7.9 was entered as part of the planned activity.
The smoke detectors were not uncovered within 14 days, therefore, this is submitted as a Special Report pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.2.
This event had no affect on the health and safety of the public and did not constitute a threat to plant safety. The estimated date of restoration is July 25, 1983.
