' NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

OF MONTHLY OPERATING EXPERIENCE - APRIL, 1983 April 1 The station was in operational mode 1 with reactor. power at a through nominal 100 percent and the reactor coolant system at normal April 28 operating temperature and pressure.

April 29 The station was in operational mode 1 with reactor power at.a nominal 100 percent and the reactor coolant system at normal operating temperature and pressure. During a dilution operation of the reactor coolant system, the Auxiliary Building vent high radiation alarm was received in the control room. It was dis-covered that Chemistry was taking samples in the Auxiliary Building at the time. The radiation monitor alarm is an expected condition when sampling. A short time later, the Auxiliary Building vent radiation alarm and the safeguards radiation alarm were received.

At that time, Operations commenced an investigation for a leak in the north sump. The relief valve for the boronometer'(RV-CH-103) was found to be lifting. This appears to have been caused during the dilution of the reactor coolant system. The volume control tank pressure had gone to'approximately 60 psig which may have caused the relief valve to lift. There have been problems with this relief valve in the past.

April 30 The station was in operational mode 1 with reactor powe.r at a nominal 100 percent and the reactor coolant system at normal operating temperature and pressure.
