MONIELY OPERATING ICI'IVITIES - APRIL 1983 Highlights:

The Unit operated at 100% power during this reporting period _except for those-

-periods of time when the Main Turbine Control Valves were tested. '1ko other power reductions to 551 and 56% power were performed on April 15 and April 16 to remove the East Main Feedwater Punp fran service while leaking tubes in the Condenser were plugged. These power reductions were for periods of 17.75 hours8.680556e-4 days 0.0208 hours 1.240079e-4 weeks 2.85375e-5 months and 13.75 hours8.680556e-4 days 0.0208 hours 1.240079e-4 weeks 2.85375e-5 months respectively. 'All of these power reductions _are addressed in the Sm mary.

The gross electrical generation for the month was 757,320 mm.

Sunmary:

4/2/83 Reduced power to 95% at 1808 hours0.0209 days 0.502 hours 0.00299 weeks 6.87944e-4 months for. turbine valve testing. Following the valve testing the power was held at 95% due to the Systems request.

Power was returned to 100% at 1605 hours0.0186 days 0.446 hours 0.00265 weeks 6.107025e-4 months on 4/4/83.

4/5/83 The Control-Rtxxn Cable Vault Halon System became inoperable at 1400 hours0.0162 days 0.389 hours 0.00231 weeks 5.327e-4 months , when it did not pass the concentration test. The Halon Syctem remains inoperable at the present time with the Fire Detectors and the CO2 System operable ~as backup fire protection for the area.

4/7/83-The Upper Containment Airlock was inoperable for a 1.25 hour2.893519e-4 days 0.00694 hours 4.133598e-5 weeks 9.5125e-6 months period while the interlock for the outer door was repaired by the Maintenance Department.

4/8/83 Reduced power to 94% at 2120 hours0.0245 days 0.589 hours 0.00351 weeks 8.0666e-4 months for turbine valve testing. Returned to 100% power at 0047 on 4/9/83.

4/8/83 The West Cmponent Cooling Water Punp was inoperable for a 4.25 hour2.893519e-4 days 0.00694 hours 4.133598e-5 weeks 9.5125e-6 months period while Maintenance-repaired a small leak on the suction line.

4/9/83 ERS-1400 (Iower Containment Radiation Monitor) was inoperable for a 2.25 hour2.893519e-4 days 0.00694 hours 4.133598e-5 weeks 9.5125e-6 months period when the instrument would not ccme out of the Maintenance Mode.

4/15/83 Reduced power to 55% at 2000 hours0.0231 days 0.556 hours 0.00331 weeks 7.61e-4 months for "E"FPT Condenser repairs. Returned to 100% power at 1345 hours0.0156 days 0.374 hours 0.00222 weeks 5.117725e-4 months on 4/16/83.

4/17/83 Peduced power to 56% at 0444 hours0.00514 days 0.123 hours 7.34127e-4 weeks 1.68942e-4 months for "E"FPT Condenser repairs. Returned to 100% power at 1830 hours0.0212 days 0.508 hours 0.00303 weeks 6.96315e-4 months .

'4/18/83-At'1200 hours0.0139 days 0.333 hours 0.00198 weeks 4.566e-4 months the Charcoal Filters on tha Fuel Handling Area Exhaust Fans became inoperable to make repairs to the Chartm l Trays. These remain inoperable at the present time.

4/21/83 ERS-1300 (Iower Containment Radiation Monitor) was inoperable for a 2.5 hour5.787037e-5 days 0.00139 hours 8.267196e-6 weeks 1.9025e-6 months period for repairs.

4/29/83 NCR-912, NESW to #4 Iower Containment Ventilation Unit would not meet the 10 second required closing time. At 0350, NCR-912 was closed with it's power supply removed. At 0517 the valve returned to operable after repairs by C & I.

4/29/83 Reduced power to 95% at 2210 hours0.0256 days 0.614 hours 0.00365 weeks 8.40905e-4 months for turbine valve testing. Returned to 100% power at 0206 hours0.00238 days 0.0572 hours 3.406085e-4 weeks 7.8383e-5 months on 4/30/83.

.The 650' elevation containment airlock. door interlock was not functioning properly. Replaced the interlock cable and adjusted the interlocks.

M-2 The blowdown regulating valve for No. 4 steam generator, DRV-342, had a body-to-bonnet leak. Replaced the valve cage, plug, stem and gaskets. Had the valve tested.

M-3 Primary water isolation valve to No. 1 boric acid transfer pump, CS-414-1, was leaking. Replaced the diaphragm.

M-4 Primary water isolation valve to No. 2 boric acid transfer pump, CS-414-2, was leaking. Replaced the diaphragm.

C&I-l Incore movable flux detector 10-patch limit switches for loca-tions F3, B3, and C5 were stuck such that " insertion" was in-dicated on the flux core map when the detectors were actually withdrawn. Ten-patch device limit switches were cleaned and the insert-withdraw switch was replaced to restore correct de-tector position indication.

C&I-2 Unit No. 1 fuel transfer-system proximity switches were re-placed and associated cables were routed in conduits. These seven switches were replaced in preparation for the Unit No. 1 refueling outage.

C&I-3 Lower containment airborne radiation monitors, ERS-1300 and ERS-1400, were found to have incorrectly wired power boxes.

Wiring in the boxes was corrected to conform to the AEP elec-trical drawing. The incorrect wiring was the cause of spurious control room status lights which were received whenever the-ERS-1300 sample pump was started.
