Dear Chairman Bloch:

In response to your request for a copy of the drawing of the

" upper lateral restraint" referred to at page 3 of the "Surre-buttal Testimony of Jack Doyle," dated April 26, 1983, I am enclosing the requested drawing.

Copies are also being provided to the Service List.

With regard to Applicants' response to Mr. Doyle's surre-buttal testimony, Applicants initially intended to respond to Mr.

Doyle's April 26 and April 28, 1983 testimony by affidavit (see

" Applicants' Reply Brief Regarding Consideration of LOCA in Design Criteria for Pipe Supports," May 3, 1983 at 9).

However, upon i

l receipt of extensive additional surrebuttal testimony of Mr. Doyle l

(dated May 4, 1983), Applicants have determined that it would be more efficient simply to reserve the opportunity to present a wit-ness or panel of witnesses on these matters following presentation of Mr. Doyle's testimony, rather than responding to a portion of that testimony by affidavit.

This letter is to notify the Board of Applicants' intentions in this regarf.
