In a letter dated December 19, 1990, Duke Power Company stated that it would make a j

full response to the NRC pursuant to the requirements of NRC Bulletin 8811 by May 1,

1991, Duke Power has concluded that the pressurizer surge line and associated support / restraints for McGuire and Catawba are in compliance with the licensing commitments and evaluation requirements stated in Bulletin 88-11, Duke Power has performed the plant specific analysis as described in the December 19, 1991 submittal which involved applying the work done on a generic basis by _ Westinghouse to the specifics of each of the four McGuire and Catawba units. This work confirms Westinghouse's conclusion that the surge lines meet all applicable ASME stress and fatigue -

limits by significant margins and shows that the forces and displacements at the

- support / restraints are within allowable limits, Westinghouse is still in the process of reviewing the pressurizer surge line nozzle and is committed to provide Duke Power with a draft of these results by June 6,1991._ Duke -

Power will provide the NRC with the results of the remaining pressurizer surge line nozzle
