dated March 22, 1983 This letter provides a correction of information presented in Reference 1, which was submitted in response to IE Bulletin No. 83-01.
In Reference 1, we indicated that preventive maintenance is performed in accordance with Item 3 of IE Bulletin No. 79-09, l

Systems, to assure breaker design performance. However, as discussed with you in a meeting on March 18 in your office, a detailed review of the preventive maintenance program for the reactor trip switchgear has iound a number of deficiencies in

that program with regard to conformance with Item 3 of IE Bulletin No. 79-09.

Mr. R. H. Engelken March 30, 1983 These deficiencies will be corrected by the preparation of a new procedure which incorporates the provisions of IE Bulletin 79-09, the vendor manual, and other inputs from the vendor.
Maintenance in accordance with this new procedure will be performed on all Units 2 and 3 reactor trip circuit breakers prior to their respective Mode 2 entry.
i Additional information concerning our preventive maintenance program will be submitted separately. As discussed in Reference 2, neither Unit will enter Mode 2 until advised by your office that the matter involving the reactor trip breakers is resolved.
