Interim 10CFR50.55(e) Report; Cooling Tower Wall / Concrete Beam Transverse Shear Stress
Dear Sir:
On March I and 3,1983, we reported a reportable 10CFR50.55(e) item
[ References (b) & (c)] regarding the structural design deficiency effecting certain concrete walls and concrete beams in the cooling tower.
The additional strengthening required to eliminate the overstress due to transverse shear in the cooling tower walls and concrete beams is currently under evaluation. We plan to report the results of the evaluation by July 15, 1983. Additionally, a review of transverse shear stress in exterior walls of all Seismic Category I structures is being performed and the results of this evaluation is also scheduled to be reported by July 15, 1983. This letter is being filed pursuant to the interim reporting provisions of 10CFR50.55(e)(3).
