Engelken (NRC) Dated March 22, 1983 Pursuant to Section 6.9.1.12.i of Appendix A Technical Specifications to Facility Operating License NPF-15 for San Onofre, Unit 3, this submittal provides the written. confirmation of our March 25, 1983, prompt notification to the NRC of a reportable occurrence involving the High Pressure Safety Injection (HPSI) system.
l The referenced letter provided you with confirmation of our prompt notification of a reportable occurrence involving the use of Westinghouse Electric Corporation gate valves in safety related systems.
In that letter, we identified two (2) valves installed in the Unit 2 Component Cooling Water System.
We have now identified one additional valve installed in the High Pressure Safety Injection (HPSI) system of Unit 3.
A 14-day follow-up report with a copy of Licensee Event Report l
(LER) No.83-029 will be submitted by April 4, 1933, to address this event.
