Dear Mr. Keppler:

On February 28, 1983, Mr. L. G. Yeager of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e) . A PSI audit of the site HVAC contractor, Pullman Construction Industries, Inc. (PCI), resulted in a number of findings which indicate that PCI has not adequately. imple-mented their quality assurance program. It is conceivable that non-conforming conditions could exist and had they gone uncorrected, could have adversely affected the safe operations of the plant.

PCI has initially responded to the audit findings and PSI has accepted, subject to verification of the corrective action, most of their disposi-tions. Further review of open audit findings is continuing as is corrective action for those findings with PSI approved dispositions.

This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). A further report will be filed on or before July 22, 1983. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at your convenience.
