Dear Mr. Vassallo:
In January 1982, Carolina Power & Light (CP&L) began a program to place the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP) Unit 1 and 2 Technical Specifications (TS) on a computerized word processor. The intent of this program was to alleviate the multiple reproduction of TS pages by dry copying, and the resulting problems of lost legibility, by permitting direct retyping of TS pages and revisions.
This effort culminated in the complete retyping of the Brunswick 1 and 2 Technical Specifications in January of this year. These retyped Technical Specifications have been reviewed and approved by the plant Nuclear Safety Committee (PNSC), and with the exception of insignificant clerical corrections (spelling, typographical errors, etc), are identical to the NRC issued versions.
This is to advise you that as a result of discussions with the NRC Region II Staff, CP&L has determined that these TS may be used for plant operation and has therefore distributed then for use at BSEP Units 1 and 2.
In order to make clear which pages are retyped and which are new amendments, CP&L has placed the following statement at the bottom of each page.
