Electrical Cable Tray and Attachment Request for Partial Lift
Dear Mr. Keppler:
Your Confirmatory Action Letter (CAL) dated January 27, 1982 established requirements for lifting of Stop Work Order 007, Electrical Cable Tray and Attachments.
Illinois Power Company subsequently developed and submitted a two-phased Recovery Plan.
The first phase of the 007 Recovery Plan was completed in January, 19o3 with the exception of resolution of a material traceability of electrical hanger fittings (clips) question which is being processed as a non-conformance.
Authorization to proceed with Phase II of the Recovery Plan was given to Construction on January 19, 1983 and Phase II is proceeding in accordance with the current schedule.
A plan of action to resolve the material traceability issues associated with the clips shculd complete in late March.
The major goal of this Recovery Plan was to demonstrate our ability to pull class 1E cable through the raceways which i
had been reworked and reinspected.
Up-to-date examination of the selected specific cable pull paths indicate that supporting components such as pull boxes, conduit and junction boxes must be replaced prior to these class lE cable pulls.
Replacement of, junction / pull boxes requires removal and replacement of attached conduit, which is prohibited by Stop Work Order 016.

G. Keppler March 16, 1983 Page TWO of TWO In order to provide a demonstration of cable pulling pro-cedures, equipment, and training, alternative cable paths which would not require use of unaccepted conduit were investigated.
Twenty-nine potential cable runs have been identified.
These cables became candidates for pulling as Phase II of the Recovery Plan nears completion.
Two cables should be available in late March upon resolution of clip material traceability and com-pletion of raceway packages RT 209 and RT 361.
By mid-April, RT 212 will be completed permitting six more cables to be pulled.
In mid-May, twenty-one cables will be available as Raceway RT 210 is completed.
All cable pulls will be made by hand since the lengths of pulls (70-370-feet) are small.
In order for the raceways to be accepted, all tray, attach-ment and hanger travelers will have been completed and vaulted.
All'non-conformances in the respective cable paths will be closed.
Some cables will be terminated following pulling and others will be coiled pending placement of cabinets.
Routes will be in the Auxiliary, Control, Diesel Generator and Fuel Buildings.
Cable pulling will be conducted to Level III schedules approved by appropriate Quality Assurance Management.
Illinois Power Company requests authorization to conduct cable pulling operations as outlined'in this letter.
We will be pleased to provide such specific details as cable routes and identification.to your staff.
