Dear Mr. Keppler:
This letter serves as our fif th interim report pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e) concerning the rejection during re-review of a number of previously accepted radiographs on Containment Vessel shell plate welds. Our previous reports on this subject were submitted May 3, 1982, August 31, 1982, September 30, 1982, and March 31, 1983.
Currently we are performing a review of the radiographs utilizing film overlay techniques. These techniques will permit us to isolate subsurface indications and permit evaluation of surface irregularities for acceptance. Repair work has started on rejectable weld areas and radiographs of all repairs will be reviewed as they become available.
At this time we plan to submit our next report on September 30, 1983.
