Dear Mr. Seidle:
IE Inspection Report 82-21 The subject Inspection Report identified a concern regarding the Fort Calhoun Station sampling and analytical programs.
Speci-fically, the inspectors had performed several confirmatory measurements on gaseous samples and noted disagreements between Omaha Public Power District's and their analysis results.
Accordingly, the subject report asked the District to evaluate this concern and provide you a summary of corrective actions to be taken.
As a result of the inspector's findings, the District conducted an evaluation of the Fort Calhoun Station sampling techniques and procedures.
The methods used by the District for sample pre-paration were consistent with those used by the inspector.
Accord-ingly, the District believes the large number of disagreements between District and inspector analytical results was caused by differences in instrument calibrations.
Therefore, the District implemented a program to cross-calibrate the Canberra and TN-ll gamma spectrometer systems using NBS traceable standards.
This calibration program is expected to be completed by April 3, 1983 and should significantly improve the accuracy of the Fort Calhoun Station's analytical program.
